Kuwait City, Kuwait, September 4th, 2012: Kames Petroleum Services’s track record in safety and innovation has been highlighted by winning the prestigious Bronze Award in the Joint Ventures Category, at the Qatar Oil and Gas Industry Safety Excellence and Innovation Awards 2011 which took place on 3rd September, 2012.
Organized by Qatar Petroleum (QP) to promote a culture of safety among QP joint venture companies, contractors and other players in the local oil and gas industry, the awards were presented to those companies that demonstrated improvements in behaviour, procedures, design, plant operations, safety standards and overall risk reduction.
Mr. Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Kames Petroleum Services , Qatar, was present to receive the award from H. E. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sadah, Minister of Energy & Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum. Kames Petroleum Services was recognized ahead of another 21 participants to win the award
Commenting on receiving the award, Mr. Albuainain said: “We are very proud to receive this award because it represents another milestone in our long term commitment to safety performance.
“From our inception, we were determined to uphold the highest levels of safety across every facet of our operation and ranked QHSE excellence with other primary business objectives. We have been proactive in embracing this commitment and have created policies, programs and initiatives such as the Annual HSE Contractors Meeting that have helped to develop safety standards for the local and regional oil and gas sector.
“Winning this award could not have been possible without a lot of hard work and dedication of every single employee at Kames Petroleum Services along with our partners and contractors. I would like to congratulate them all.”
In picking up the award, Kames Petroleum Services has been recognized as a leading operating company in the Qatar Oil and Gas industry and was able to successfully demonstrate sustainable performance and innovation across a range of evaluation criteria – performance enhancement, transferability, reputation and innovation.

In addition, Kames Petroleum Services Qatar has to date achieved zero lost time incidents (LTIS) bringing the total of LTI free hours to more than 30 million hours.
The Award ceremony was also attended by members of Kames Petroleum Services ’s senior management team: Mr. Hassan Al Emadi, Vice President Qatar Operations; Mr. Ali Alrahbi, VP QHSE&S, Mr. Ajlan Eid Al Enazi, DVP Public Relations and Mr. Jassim Al Malki, HSE&S Manager.
During the event, Mr. Jassim Al Malki delivered a short presentation titled “Looking through the Eyes of Risk”. This focused on how Kames Petroleum Services has built a strong risk management culture and how HSE and risk management play significant roles in meeting Kames Petroleum Services ’s business objectives.
